The rumor mill is abuzz once again with speculation around possible plans by Apple to introduce a web-based television service.
Apple is no stranger to rumors, of course, but these latest reports extend well beyond the next iPhone, how thin it might be, how much it’ll cost, and how long its battery will last. More than simply introducing mere hardware, a move by Apple to enter the TV market in earnest would have profound implications in a number of related industries, including acting and voice acting.
Haven’t we seen this before?
You’d be forgiven for thinking that Apple was already involved in the television market. After all, it’s been selling its Apple TV product for over eight years now, and its iTunes online marketplace has long made televised and other video-based content available for download on its virtual shelves. But these initiatives were – and are – baby steps compared to what Apple is reportedly considering next.
